Insomnia Sucks

3:30 in the morning, and I'm wide awake. I went to bed shortly after 11:30, and was tossing and turning for about two hours before I just gave up trying.

NFL Network is showing a replay of the 1991 Super Bowl. Giants vs. Bills. The Bills are up by two points, but I have a feeling the Giants will manage to pull it off. Anyone wanna bet that the Bills' kicker muffs it at the last second?

I would really love it if my dog would stop licking everything...and I do mean EVERYTHING! The bed, the carpet, the sofa, my head, and of course, himself. Apparently this is a common problem in JRTs, a combination of behavior traits and some medical conditions (Edison has an inflamed spleen, among other things; I'm surprised he's still alive). Lately I taken to burying myself completely under the covers, and shooing him off me about ten or fifteen times when I sleep...which won't be happening anytime soon.

I bought a used TV from a friend of ours. My old TV worked fine, but it was rather small (13"), which is fine for a kitchen counter or occasional use, but bloody hard to see from across the room. The TV I bought is a 25 inch, much better for my eyes.

Lately my latent gadget geek has started to surface. I've been pricing out new computers (the Toshiba I'm using right now has a tendency to do an unexpected thermal shutdown). There's a big gap between what I'd like ($1200-$1500) and what I can afford (I've got about $100 in the computer fund right now, and probably will have about $500 by June, when is when I really will need a new laptop for business). I've also been scoping out cellphones. My plan doesn't expire until July, but I'm eligible for an upgrade in April. There's nothing wrong with my old phone (Motorola V180); I just want something with a few more bells and whistles (camera, BlueTooth, maybe a PDA). The phones I'm looking at cost about $200-$300 before rebate, money I really could and should spend elsewhere. I'm reminded of a quote from Fight Club: "Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need."

Yep, the Bills missed the field goal, wide right. Told ya.
