Went up to Michigan yesterday to visit Kat's grandmother. It's our first visit since the funeral. Her uncles were up on the roof cleaning and repairing the chimney for her wood-buring fireplace. Did I mention I'm afraid of heights? Did I also mention that the idea of climbing around a roof without anything to hang onto gives me the screaming heebie-jeebies? After about a half-hour of gentle ribbing from Kat's uncles, I figured I might as well get my ass up there or I'd never hear the end of it. I was a little shaky at first, but it wasn't too bad. I think Kat was totally flabbergasted. Hey, I've got to do something to surprise her every now and then.
I was driving to work today, and rather than get stuck in hellish traffic on the highway, I took city streets. I was heading past the high school when a local cop lit me up for speeding in a school zone. Isn't today Columbus Day? Doesn't that usually mean schools are closed? Well, not in Indianapolis. I got a ticket for $110, but I have 60 days to pay.
Dinner's ready. I'll type more later.
