Bill, aka the Crazy Clock Guy, aka Hey You

Went to another police funeral procession today. It wasn't as long or as impressive as the one for the IPD officer, but that's not the point. Watching that, and watching the funeral this morning on the local TV feed, it just makes me extremely sad, but also very proud. I was never in the military or worked for a police department, but seeing this display of community solidarity almost makes me wish I had. I can only imagine what these people go through on the front lines and on the streets. It makes me proud to be an American.

Then I come home and watch the presidential debate, and that pride just evaporates. I am embarassed that this jackass from Texas is the supposedly most powerful man in the world. Kerry isn't much better (although he is a better debater and less of a weasel when he speaks). These guys are so busy pointing fingers at each other and tearing each other down that they aren't saying anything positive. They don't have anything to offer America. This just strengthens my resolve to want to move to Ireland.

PS - I promise to write about that last sentence in detail at a later date. In brief: if all goes well and Kat and I work our asses off, we will be moving to Ireland by spring 2006.
